The Pacific

Experience The Pacific
A stunning new miniseries presented from HBO and executive producers Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, The Pacific redefines television, pushing the medium into territory never before explored.
A companion piece rather than sequel to their Emmy Award winning ten-part miniseries Band of Brothers, The Pacific follows the experiences of the men who fought in the desperate conflict against the Japanese Empire.
Closely based on two acclaimed first-hand accounts of the war, With The Old Breed by Eugene Sledge and Helmet For My Pillow by Robert Leckie, The Pacific also uses research material compiled by historian Hugh Ambrose (son of late Band of Brothers author Stephen E Ambrose) to tell the story of legendary Marine John Basilone.
Three very different men each dealing with the harrowing reality of the Pacific war in their own way, Leckie (James Badge Dale), Sledge (Joe Mazzello) and Basilone (Jon Seda) are compelling figures; everymen driven to acts of heroism not only by a sense of duty to their country, but by the unbreakable bond they share with their fellow Marines.
Facing a brutal and determined enemy that prefers death to defeat, the men must also contend with a hostile climate where intense heat, disease and a lack of supplies make their campaign a living hell.
With the production values of a major feature film, The Pacific is a ten-part blockbuster realised with a budget of around $230m. Intimate and nuanced in its depiction of the real men who fought, The Pacific is also epic in its scope and scale, recreating several of the conflict’s most fierce battles with an unrelenting intensity that is equally exhilarating and unsettling.
An uncompromising masterpiece, experience The Pacific only on Sky Movies/HD.
