The Tank Museum

Here at Military History we invite you to TANK WEEK starting Monday 4 April on Military History.
We celebrate our British invention exploring the different models and battles that tanks have played a vital part in throughout our military history.
Tonnes of Fun at The Home of The Tank
The Tank Museum in Bovington, Dorset brings the history of tanks and tank crews to life, supported by the world’s best collection of tanks and action packed live displays during the school holidays.
The Museum’s exhibitions tell the story of armoured warfare spanning almost a century of history. As you explore the Museum’s 6 large halls, you will come face to face with tanks that have seen action in all the major conflicts of the 20th Century. This unique collection of over 200 vehicles includes the world’s first ever tank, the feared German Tiger tank, and the modern Challenger 2.
The tank was a British invention that changed warfare forever when it was introduced in World War One and Bovington has been the home of the tank ever since. Situated on the ground where some of the first tank crews were trained, this small village in South Dorset remains the home of The Royal Armoured Corps.
From the Somme to Tiananmen Square or D-Day to Desert Storm the tank has played a part in shaping history – and it continues to do so today.
The Tank Museums collections, regarded as the most historically significant and comprehensive of their kind, have been Designated as of outstanding national importance. An independent museum and registered charity, the Museum exists to record the development of armoured warfare through the deeds of The Royal Tank Regiment and the Royal Armoured Corps though its inspiring exhibitions.
